Foundation Trusts are fundamentally different types
of organisation with greater freedoms than existing NHS
Trusts.
While subject to the same regulatory regime as other public and
private providers, their legal status is as mutually owned,
not-for-profit, “public benefit corporations” with freedom to
decide how to raise funds and meet national targets and standards.
Foundation Trusts are authorised and regulated by
Monitor› - the independent regulator of NHS
Foundation Trusts. Monitor requires clear evidence that Trusts can
meet stringent financial, service and corporate governance
standards before it will approve applications for Foundation
status.
The transition into Foundation Trusts is a significant journey
with many challenges.
The transformation of operations, financial management, corporate
governance and organisational culture is complex and the various
work streams are interlinked. The challenge to aspirant Foundation
Trusts is not just one of success in the application process but
also of successfully transforming their organisation.
Together with our partners
Bentley
Jennison› and
The Campaign Company›, we can provide NHS Trusts
with a full range of specialist assistance to guide them through
the FT application process.
Our modular approach addresses the four main challenges of the
application process:
- Strategy and service planning (including market analysis, risk
assessment, HR and workforce planning);
- Financial modelling and sensitivity analysis;
- Public consultation and membership strategy; and,
- Board development and
governance.
Each of these workstreams is delivered by dedicated teams of
experts, coordinated by a single project manager working to an
integrated project plan.
Following the application process, we can continue to help you
change and help you anticipate and manage any challenges before
they arise.
