Revised Handbook
A revised edition of the Quality Assurance Handbook was circulated in December 2007, and a copy is available on the HLSP website at (click here). Significant amendments have been made to reflect the risk based approach to programme monitoring adopted by the NMC and HLSP this year, and to the revised report proformas for approval and monitoring processes.

Janet Duberley and Janet James on call rota
Janet Duberley and Janet James will continue to work an on call rota each covering alternate weeks to provide support and advice for reviewers and to answer queries from education providers. A copy of the rota is available on the HLSP website (click here), alternatively please direct queries to your named Project Officer who will be able to re-direct your enquiry as necessary. NMC circulars
NMC circulars are emailed to reviewers by HLSP as they are issued, with due regard to the reviewers field of practice. Below is a list of the NMC circulars which have been issued since the last newsletter up to the end of January 2008. Copies can be downloaded from the NMC website›:-

36/2007 - Supporting direct care through simulated practice learning in the pre-registration nursing programme. 21/11/2007

37/2007 - Removal of minimum age of entry requirement for pre-registration nursing and midwifery programmes. 21/11/2007

38/2007 - Standards of educational preparation for Prescribing from the Community Nurse Prescribers Formulary for nurses without a Specialist Practitioner Qualification – V150. 13/12/2007

01/2008 - Meeting the triennial review requirements for midwife sign-off mentors who support midwives undertaking the Standards for the preparation and practice of supervisor of midwives programmes. 29/01/2008

02/2008 - Applying due regard to learning and assessment in practice for student midwives. 29/01/2008
