STEPS, Bangladesh

Project to support Steps Towards Development (STEPS) for the development of a database of gender-sensitive indicators and a programme monitoring system.

HLSP assisted in developing a database of gender sensitive indicators for collection and use and a programme monitoring system on the legal status of women and gender equality in the STEPS working areas in Bangladesh.

To undertake this project, it was first necessary for HLSP to become familiar with STEPS and its local networks and organisations, service centres and pilot projects; to understand the process, progress, achievements of building networks and coalitions to combat gender inequities in the priority areas of violence, human rights, power and decision-making.

HLSP held discussions and consultations with relevant stakeholders (GOB, NGOs, international donor community, women and men) and consultancy outputs were finalised with the management of STEPS before technical inputs could be successfully integrated into STEPS’ day-to-day work.
